Land ValueYou don''t want to live in the slums, don't you? Nor do your sims. To have a city that can impress others, you want skyscrapers surrounding your city. Without a high land value, you won't get skyscrapers, so the first thing is to have a high land value for your city....... NIMBY/YIMBYFirst, you will need to know what is NIMBY and YIMBY.The Nimby (Not In My BackYard) and YIMBY (Yes In My BackYard) effects are used to calculate a building's effect on the local aura and land value. Always place NIMBY's away from your residents and commercial, and place the YIMBY's where you want it to become high land value. Here is a simple table.
PollutionNo one likes pollution. In the start of the game, you must have dirty industries in order to survive (Or you can try building farms only), so keep the residents far away from the industries. Incinerators, airports, seaports produce the most pollution in the city, so place it far away from your city(I don't recommend you to even place it in your industrial district.). OrdinanceHomeless Shelters can help to raise land value. BuildingsBallparks has a major effect in high land value. But if you want more economical ways, you can build small parks, trees, water tiles. Building along the coast has a good effect on land values. Marking buildings historical can raise the land value around, but if it is abandoned, it may have a negative effect. SocialLow crime rate, enough fire stations, hospitals, schools and water connections can raise land value. As time passesLand values rise as your city gets older. Light zones get to high land values the fastest, in about 10-30 years, medium the second, in about 50-70 years, and dense the slowest, I still can't figure out when it will get to astronomical.
